Found this by the Ohio and Erie Canal also a train station nearby. Found it with my GTI 2500, about 4 inches deep give or take an inch. it's made of brass or bronze as I can't bend it. Thinking it came off a horse bridle but can't find one that has this type of hardware. Detecting Today 003.jpgDetecting Today 002.jpg
 

Can't remember the name, but i am pretty sure it some kind of horse tack.

Silver Searcher is correct. I'm just replying in case you do not know what the term "gag swivel loop" means. It is a version of horse bridle equipment, made for civilian usage, not military. Most date from the late-1800s through early-1900s. Here's a photo of a page in the 1907 Pierson & Hough horsegear catalog, showing several versions of them.

Thanks people, been trying to identify this piece for a while now. because you all helped I was able to find the same exact piece that I uncovered in the field. You all hit the nail on the head...thanks again!:thumbsup:
