So I found this today near a creek in Pennsylvania and can't figure out what it is. It had red and black in it and it's also very magnetic. My first thought was that it's slag but there's not a single air bubble on it and there are also small shards of what look like quartz at the base of it. I polished the top of it just slightly to see it better but still can't tell what it is, help would be appreciated 20180803_235216.jpg20180803_235201.jpg

There was no color when I scratched it on porcelain, and it is also hard enough to leave scratches on glass

My opinion is simular to EU's, looks like jasper that has a high iron content or magnetite in it. Polishes up well and has a high hardness with no streak.

Thanks everyone! After doing more research I think it could be almandine garnet with high iron content, or it could also be jasper with magnetite, not completely sure but either way it's very beautiful :)

I have found similar stones. Seems to be some kind of mashup of different types of chalcedony, almost like a quartzite with large grains or some kind of weathered pegmatite with small crystals
I think looking for a name for this rock might be a waste of time.
