Found this at my Cellar Hole....

At first I thought it was a type of wrench or a bottle opener of some sort, but the center opening is perfectly round. It doesn't have any pins or divots, so I would have to rule out a gun tool of some kind. There was a lot of logging done in the area during the late 1800's, but I haven't been able to find anything that looks like this.
Any ideas?

DG,The more I look at it I think you may have solved it. You said it looks like the broken handle of a ladle. ????

Yep JARMAN~ I think possibly that could be it. It's the perfect size and proportions for an old untesil handle. With the corosion on it, it's hard to tell if it broke off of something or not.

I couldn't find a picture to go with my earlier reply so would like to submit this one showing the trap spring idea. Rusting away in an old cellar hole would be a plausible location to find one.
