Hunted a farm feild this morning that is near a place that has produced lots of CW relics but I don't think this is related.
It's non-magnetic, ether brass or heavy copper. It's bent pretty bad and seems old. Any thoughts? IMG_20180210_112043195.jpgIMG_20180210_112051330.jpg

I think it's brass, because I tried to straighten it without harming it and it is really hard. Here are some more pictures.IMG_20180211_161240252.jpgIMG_20180211_161229613.jpg

I am pretty certain it is zinc, and what you have is an old therapeutic equestrian zinc collar pad, invented by Dexter Curtis in 1870 who later patented it under the Zinc Collar Pad Company on May 14t, 1872 and renewed the patent again on Feb 8, 1881.

Here is a brief on the company history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc_Collar_Pad_Company_Building
Her is a very interesting and educational article: https://www.ancestry.com/boards/surnames.curtis/2854/mb.ashx
