Was given this at a garage sale.. people had no idea what it was, neither do I! Anyone have any ideas? There are no identification plates. Number 339 is stamped on the back any box. The top of the box is missing. Thanks so much! IMG_0625.JPGIMG_0628.JPGIMG_0629.JPGIMG_0626.JPGIMG_0625.JPGIMG_0628.JPGIMG_0629.JPGIMG_0626.JPG

Possibly a battery tester, or a fuse tester?
The round thing in the center is a variable resistor (i.e., a potentiometer).
The rectangular thing at top looks like it could be a high power resistor.
The rest are switches (mostly).

I'm gonna guess the black unit at the top is just a coil and to the right is a movable contact that moves as the coil is energized. Like a buzzer circuit. Likely a quacker device.

I was going to guess 19th century fusion reactor or warp coil.

I think that is the auto tune that bieber uses to sound human

Long range treasure detector.

But I'd go with the quack "electromagnetic" shock therapy device. Simple switches made to look theatrically impressive.

Looks like an old-style neon bulb on the front two middle terminals.
I agree: could very well be a quack-medical device.
