The item on the left is what I am asking for help on. I think I know what the item on the right is. Found in a field that has produced everything from round balls to modern general service buttons. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Need a little bit more of a description. It looks like brass, is it? Does it have any holes on either end? If so are they threaded?

It appears to be brass. It has no holes in either end and is not threaded. Thanks for looking.

Maybe the brass end to the rope around a Calvery hat, There's usually two of them.

It's not flat on the back. Uniform all the way around.
