Can anyone put an ID on this item ? It was found where a Sheepwagon was probably parked. An 1884 Nickel was also present in the area. I'm leaning towards some kind of cooking implement but don't let that distort any ideas.

I would guess that it is a smith made center loop for a singletree. Which would be used to pull a wagon, plow,etc.

I can see that . Overall length is 7" and the round stock is just a smidge under 5/16".

Looks like that sheep herder had a better idea. I have no idea what it is though.
