i have a question

Any where that people were is where the coins will be. Side walks are great for coin shooting. As far as road way gas stations ,it is good to find the original road ways and also the stops along the way so you will have a better idea of possible places to try. Resterants ,parks, large shade trees along an old road are always promising.

I've also been doing research where the old roads and sidewalks USED to be, which leads to a whole new discovery where the general store and train station used to be.... :o (looking forward to the day when I get over to those sites)
Oh, and I've been detecting near railroad tracks recently. Mostly because my dad just retired from CSX and collects memorabilia, but because I've actually been finding some interesting stuff. Plus, the old conductor and brakemen keys are worth good money, albit rare to find.

Many of the smaller towns in my area used to have board sidewalks in the central business district. These were replaced later with cement. Usually, when sidewalks are replaced, there is a window of opportunity to find the coins that were lost when the sidewalks were made of wood with gaps between the boards.
These kind of places can be phenomenal for older coins. I have found as many as 38 coins in less than 60 feet of sidewalk. All the coins were pre-1900.
