Casper,

Nice selection of musket balls....I see some of them still have the sprews attached from the mold.

I think that is little pieces of sea grass you see

Casper,

Check out the top row 3rd musket ball from the right and see the little knob sticking out....there maybe be a couple more at the top left cluster also.

It is grass....I see exactly what your saying. I saw that at first look too, and thought the same thing..... Blow the picture up, you can see the piece of grass it's sitting on.

Cool find!

Nitric,

Yeah when I blew up the picture I could definitely see the greenish color beneath....these old eyes ain't as good as the used to be...lol.

I thought the same thing.:laughing7: It really does look like the nub(?), when you pull them out of the mold.

Some real cool digs! Anything else come up of interest?

You have a nice set of balls there Casper. Sorry about that I just couldn't resist. Great finds, were they very deep? I'm not sure what the sand is like in your area.

they were at all different depths - some of the smaller ones - will fall thru normal scoop hole - so some I think may have been scooped by others and they could not retrieve without a mask
I could just drop down and and fan once and pluck - others were as deep as a foot +
