Re: i got this sword, i think it's a fake but...how old is it ?

Are there any marks on the blade. Check down by the handle on the blade.

Don't see any knicks or dings on the edges, at least in the pictures you've provided, that a battle used sword would have.

The nut on the very end is interesting. :laughing7:

Probably some kind of ceremonial sword like the dignitaries wear to spruce up their outfits and make themselves look important.

Kind of looks like shagreen handle but can't tell.

I'm sure one of the sword experts here can help you out. Good luck.

bottom of sheath to bolt top is 37 and 3/4 inches or 109 and 1/2 cm
as for writing it looks like maybe there was but now it's almost gone

Reminds me of 1822 light cavalry saber design.

Circa 1970's, I think they are Spanish... :icon_scratch:

Not well made, and not valuable. Sorry. :-\

It looks poorly made in the 3rd picture.

looks to be designed after the old model 1833 dragoon saber "trooper" ---(calvary sword pattern)
* by the looks of the guard --see the little ball at the top ? --its called a quillon finial (inspector mark should be there) . --looks like the "end cap" is missing however (nut on end is exposed ) ivan

arms2armor.com -- click on "cavalry" --2nd one down

Re: i got this sword, i think it's a fake but...how old is it ?

thats a roughly similar design (modern prop type sword) your showing big cy * but his ( look in first pic) has a actual "ball" type end at the top of the finial the tip end that sticks up on the sword ( it would catch a enemys sword blade sliding down the top of your sword towards your hand ) plus it has the top metal bar that runs across the top of the grip area like a real sword should have *

if his is a repoduction his is of better quality and older -- the USA --imported a lot of swords in the early 1800's

I agree the end is different but it looks to be the same cheap quality. You have IDed the type of sword but the manufacturer remains unsolved. Im definitely not up on swords but look at the cheap thin sheet metal guard. I think it could be a 1900's replica. :dontknow:

agree the hilt is a bit thin for a true "fighting" sword --old say 1900 wall hanger type repo i think.

I have one exactly like that. I paid $1.00 for it at a home decor store that was going out of business
in the late 1980's. ;D
