I will wont my grandkids to remember me for a good grandpaw, so I took them to the creek I have been hunting(I'll have to go by myself Sunday). First I taught them how to look over a rock bar asst. photos 006.JPGI showed them how I walk slow and low to the ground, but they took it one step further, they crawled across the bar. I only took them down one bar, because it gets real muddy and hard going after this one bar , but they did real good. They found pottery, a thumb scraper and something I have never found a double notched hafted scraper, but man they wore me out with what is this and what is that. When they get older they will make me some good hunting buddy's.kids finds 001.JPGkids finds 002.JPGkids finds 003.JPG

I am sure you had a great day with them. How old are they? I took my two grandsons for the first time when they were 6. They both found points which I framed for them. One is not 8 and the other is 11. I got interested in artifact hunting when my grandfather took me as a small boy a long time ago.

The girl is 7 and the boy is 5 and I got my start from my grandfather:thumbsup:

Very cool, I like to take my boys with me sometimes. They have a great time and I get to teach them about how people lived in the past! I think it is an experience that they will remember for a long time!

:icon_cheers:....how wonderful....you are a "Great" grandpa monsterrack...they will always remember this day! My best memories are of going out on "hunts" with my dad...these "times" spent together are priceless, nothing can top them.....and great finds & adorable kids.:icon_thumleft:

I always hunted with my grand father and sometimes my brother. I remember so many days and stories. I can go into my artifact room and look at a frame of points and almost every time one will jump out at me and take me right back to the day we found it. One time we were hunting an archaic site and within an hour my brother and grandpa had 9 beautiful notched blades. My brother and I were maybe 9 and 10 years old. I was frustrated because I had not found anything . Then my brother found another nice one and brought it over to show me. I took it from him and threw it into the field. My grand father was so mad...of course he made me search for it until I found it! :) After I found it I decided to walk down a wash on the edge of the field. At the bottom I picked up thenicest point that we had found in a long time.

Great day with the family

I love doing things with my grandkids, especially shooting recurve bows and 22 rifles. Indian sites are hard to find here in Michigan so it would be on the boring side if I took them out to look for "stuff". They do enjoy looking at our collection from the south west and they really like it when I make them a stone head necklace.

You did real good with your grandkids!!!!!!
