I found this today at the edge of a park under an old cypress tree. It is made of copper. It has two tabs on the back to clip it to something. No writing on it at all. Thanks in advance for the help to ID it.

Looks as though it might be the cover for the draft-vent on a wood-burning cookstove or a fancy wood/coal burning heater.

One possibility, anyway.

I've been looking for an example for a few days now but come up empty...

However I keep seeing in my mind a book clip... um, to keep books held open. Was there ever such a thing?
