I only put my email address on the card. I don't want my cell number out there. A few hours ago a lady emailed me and said I gave my card to her son who was having a yardsale two days ago. She wanted to know if I wanted to buy a $1000 bill. I told her I don't know enough about bills to make a good offer but did she have any coins.

She answered back right away that her husband did and could he call me tonight. I gave her my number and said call after six. Well at 6:03 I got a call and he said he has a lot of bills, high grade coins, silver casino $10 pieces and maybe 20 lbs of silver.

I told him I could not buy most of that because I am not knowledgeable enough to give a fair price. He did have some lower grade things that he wanted to sell me and he will get back later.

He did ask me to ask my friends (that's you guys) if any one wanted to talk to him about the higher grade items. I don't think he knows a lot about coins and I think he needs the money.

PM me for more info. This has to be from a regular established member.

Dan, I am not trying to be rude but I must ask a question.

What is your goal by handing out the cards?

It sounds like you are not prepared to complete deals in the manner you are marketing.

You say you already had 2 people offer to sell you some pretty desiable items and yet you declined. What items are you planning on buying from people who answer your ad?

Ben, my cards are strictly for recycling e-waste to give me a bit of edge over the other person. I don't have cards for coins, antiques, photos, or any other thing I might look for at a yard sale.

Makes perfect sense now. Thanks for clarifying.

I thought of you on Saturday when I bought 8 old phones. Too bad I need a few hundred more to make it worth my while.

Dan,
If you do not mind the question, what kind of money is there in a lot of 20lbs of phones?

I bought a box of 40 old phones, sold them for $90 on eBay for scrap gold recovery. Paid $5 for them!

depending where gold is I get $4 - 4.25 lb
phones average 3 ounces each (no back - no batt)
and the buyer picks up fed-x ground

You did good, I have tried selling in bulk on feeBay and after fees still got about what my buyer pays.
But I ship 400 - 500 in one shot (2 big boxes) Don't know if I want to list-sell-box-ship 10-13 boxes of phones. Now if i could get $90 a box I would do it all day long.

Was this recently? can you send me an auction link? you must be doing something right.

Hi I think it was last summer and I believe I had free shipping on it so I probably got like $50 bucks after it was all said and done. They were all the same, all Nokia flip phones. I have no idea though how to find where they sold it was when gold was up at 1900/oz. We pass out business cards too. We sell for people online!! Then take a profit off the sales. It's been slow we've had two consistent customers for the last year. But I stopped at a jewelry store that the lady sells antiques and she knows I going to buy stuff to put online all the time. She wants our business card because she knows who we are. She knows I'm trustworthy because I've sold stuff for her. Now here's her motive, she'll use my business cards and pass them out to people that bring in stuff that she doesn't bye As long as when I come across antique jewelry I send it to her! Can't really go wrong there!!! As we were standing there talking a lady came in to try to sell some antique knives. She didn't want anything to do with them but I have their phone number and I'm supposed to go see them this weekend!

If you look at completed listings on eBay cell phone sell for scrap gold recovery anywhere from a dollar to two dollars per phone. With free shipping if that helps.

Hey Dan, since you go through so many phones, ever find some that still work? I'm wondering because I'm a flip phone guy, and it's gettting tougher to find those things at a reasonable price. The cellphone carriers are making it difficult because they want everyone to switch over to smartphones. I got lucky and found a verizon lg at the GW for 3.50. but it sounds like maybe I should just buy a lot of phones and test them all? what do you think? if I could get a stockpile of 20 working phones I'd be set

When I buy in bulk from my seller (about 400-450 at a time) most are trash. A lot look like they were run over by a tank. last week I had one that was shot 4 times. I get my better phones at yardsales, still offer 50¢ each. Seller doesn't like it, I walk.

Yep, flip phone guy here too. My nokia is at least 6 years old. I have found two exactly like it in my wondering. I keep them in my desk at home with the battery charged. If my main phone battery gets low i will just pull a good battery and swap. The other phone then gets plugged into the charger. If i break my phone i have two for backup.

I was in ATT last month with a billing problem (heard that one before?) and pulled out my phone to give them a number and he asked me if I got "the letter" yet. I said what letter. ATT is not going to be letting those phones work on their system any more and will be trading me a new phone for that one. He assured me my bill would not be going up. I thought, yea right. That is why I was in the store. My daughter got a new phone and the bill went up. Supposedly they took care of it.

hi Dan, are you able to tell me what state the seller is in?

Good luck,

Jeff

I'd be happy to give an appraisal for a small percent of the total value...

Keep @ it and HH !!
