🔎 UNIDENTIFIED I found this today in a tree nursery where there was an old home at one time in the 1800’s. Any ideas. Looks like a pretty Amazing piece😁

the eagle style looks like from the war of 1812 . . maybe a Cloak clasp? or a rosette ?

very interesting, most likely military inspired from that style of eagle. Whatever it turns out to be I can say that's a great find due to the age of the site.

Beautiful piece - My first thought was that it might be the center portion of a two-piece waist belt buckle or plate (likely non-regulation militia) that could have been repurposed. The droop winged eagle is really cool and could be early 1800s or even Confederate (Confederate pieces often have a droop winged eagle with no Federal shield on its chest).

I was told it could have been a cape clasp possibly Confederate, but still looking

That is just the type of thing that I like to find. Great save! I found an American Naval button here from the 1830's and the eagle was nearly identical.
