Date is 1776 under a loop the detail can clearly be seen thanks to all of you
BOY I AM STOKED!
TOOK THE KIDS OUT TO A SCOOL BUILT IN 1931 WERE I WENT TO GRADE SCHOOL AT
THIS SITE IS BIG AND LOTS OF COINS AROUND A FEW SILVERS HAVE SURFACED IN THE PAST
I SPENT ABOUT AN HOUR DIGGING LOW SIGNALS LOOKING FOR THAT ELUSIVE GOLD RING
SO AFTER ABOUT 50 PULL TABS AND A FEW CLAD COINS LATER I CAME ACROSS A DEEP BROKEN SIGNAL THAT WAS READING UP TO +83 VDI ON THE DFX AT 7 INCHES SO AFTER 15 MINUTES OF CHIPPING PACKED RED CLAY AND GRAVEL YE OLD SUNRAY GAVE A GOOD ID ON THE TARGET ONE MORE SCOOP AND OUT ROLLS A SLICK LOOKING SILVER DISC? THE FIRST THING I SAW WAS THE UGLY BUST AND I NEW WHAT IT WAS!!!!
HAPPY DANCES ALL AROUND, EVEN MY KIDS WERE DANCING
I HAVE NO IDEA HOW OR WHY THIS THING WAS WERE IT WAS BUT ILL TAKE IT!!!!!!!
THE BUST DIME IS FOR SIZE COMPARISON SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE DIME!!!

It is without a doubt a 177_ maybe a 1776 King Charles III, there were no Bust Spanish Silver like that in the 1730s.


Cob coinage--crude coins made until the early 18th century.
Pillar coinage--"milled" or machine made coinage minted from 1732 until 1772.
Bust coinage--milled coinage from 1772 until independence, 1821-25.
