"I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Haven't hunted in three months. Just been too busy and it's been way too hot.

So finally Baldingboy and I made arrangements to get out and hunt.

Didn't find much but I will tell you I was just happy to go back to the place. You see it holds special memories for me. It was the first place I ever hunted with my Explorer and it was the source of the infamous posts between BB and I that went on for almost two months.

I found lots of silver there before and BB found a really old coin there. The only difference this time is the house is now gone.

Anyway BB and I started hunting and about 10 mins in I get a decent signal and dug up the button. I told BB "Hey I think this is a CW button" he just laughed until not 5 mins later he dug up a 3 ringer!!!! I was pumped then.

The cleaning on the button was done by BB because we could see some gilting and I didn't want to mess the button up. The only thing I can clearly make out on the back is New York followed by a Star.

Found a neat little buckle about 5 feet away from that area as well. And then the large brass/copper ring?????

Thanks for looking.

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

nice button bub-
are you walking so far off the floor you bumping your head on the
ceiling???????
i may go back to hunting when it cools off and after a rain or two,
still have to cut firewood for the winter too,,, dang too much to do

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Yep olegoat. People just do not understand how difficult it is to find Civil War relics here anymore since the area has been pounded so hard. I really think that the dirt on this site was either leveled cutting the grade down by a foot or so or there was some dirt hauled in. Either way, I am very happy to have such a cool button, and the history that it represents is simply humbling.

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Bravo on that nice eagle button! Glad to see you are still hunting and posting. It has been way too hot, but hopefully cooler weather will be on the way soon.

Your Friend,

Buckleboy

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Nice save, good to see the button come up with some shine left on it.
I think most of us in the Southeast are needing rain and cooler temps.

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Nice finds M E 22. Great looking Eagle Infantry Officer's button and ornate buckle. I'm afraid our hopes for an early and wet Fall is not looking promising right now. We are hot & dry in Tennessee too. HH, Quindy.

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Nice finds. There is a lot of Civil War history in Missouri. It is ranked number three for the most activity following Virginia and Tennessee. My very first three ringer was found in Missouri when I lived there several years ago.

False. Actually, you don’t hunt…you dig in the dirt and complain all the time if your not finding Civil War Buttons every five minutes.

So finally Baldingboy and I made arrangements to get out and hunt.

You mean Baldingboy drug you along when he went hunting!

I told BB "Hey I think this is a CW button" he just laughed until not 5 mins later he dug up a 3 ringer!!!! I was pumped then.
Actually, you did your “woe is me” routine and kept chanting that it was probably just a piece of junk UNTIL I dug the 3 ringer and then you finally were slightly hopeful. You still were negative about it until I called you!

The cleaning on the button was done by BB because we could see some gilting and I didn't want to mess the button up.

Are you kidding me?! You only wanted me to clean it because you were in denial that it was Civil War. It was that and the fact that you had not eaten in an hour. I was talking to you on the phone as you were getting kicked out of McDonalds for eating a child’s fries. I also heard you picking on some old people and kicking a puppy as you walked to your car. Get your facts straight!
You have no idea what I put up with people. It’s like detecting with my brothers kids.

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Glad you guys are a'doin' it again.Great button,ME,congrats! And I'm glad 'what's his name' found a three ringer!Which one of you were able to count the rings?(just kiddin'BB)congrats on the 3-ringer.

Re: "I" found a new/old Civil War Button!!!!!

Daddy, are you kidding me? I still cannot teach BB how to count past 2. His head hurts when he tries to go higher.

BB won't EVEN think about hunting unless I lie to him and tell him there will be college girls in the area. Course WD you have seen me, and I can't say I blame him for that. :-)

Nope the cleaning was done by you as I said for a couple of reasons. I seem to always find unique new ways to trash a find by cleaning it wrong. I did not want to risk it with the button.

That and I'm just too damn lazy to clean my finds up anymore......

Once again BB call your Doctor and tell him he needs to adjust your meds......
