I Found a Gold Coin!!!(UPdated Phot's)

I ussally post in the Beach and Shallow water fourm, but I thought you guys would enjoy seeing my latest find. I always wanted to find a gold coin, and I finally did. I was an hour and forty minutes into a 2 hour hunt when I dug the gold coin. Man it made my day. The coin is a 1915 Austria 1 Ducat with "Franc iOS IDG Avstriae Imperator" on the front. It is .986 fine (23 3/4 carats). The site I got my info said this about the coin "among the highest purity gold coins ever issued for circulation". The bezel is stamped .750 (18k).

I also dug a 3 gram platinum ring.

Enjoy!

Well you had one heck of a payday way to go

Scouts out!

I think i'd probably have a stroke or heart attack finding something like that. Your lucky to be alive my friend. Congrats!

Congrats on the two gold.:hello2:

Man that is a beautiful coin and it comes all ready mounted, I love that. The ring is killer too.
Let me say I believe it is Banner worthy. Congrats and good hunting,
ZDD

Very nice I am jealous if I find more than a trashed zinc I am happy you must be ecstatic.

Congrats on the gold coin!!:headbang: Every MD'ers dream.

The combo of the high karat gold coin (and a gold bezel) with the platinum ring ! seems BANNER worthy to me - although some might
argue that these are not really old , historically significant finds, they are precious ,and rare none the less !!!
There is an Austrian gold coin in a bezel setting on the current banner, that looks very similar to yours .

Phenomenal find!

Here is a listing:

I have the 4 ducat version (unfortunately I had to pay for mine). This is likely not an actual 1915, but a re-strike... not sure why they date the coins 1915 when they're a re-strike, but they do.

Among the prettiest gold coins out there for sure.
