Went out this weekend to an area I haven't been since last year because of snakes, ticks, etc. The grass is still really grown up and hard to swing, I am hoping for a freeze soon to kill it all off. When we were driving in we saw a doe, then as soon as we parked a little yearling came out, super cute. While unloading the detectors a big a$$ buck at least an 8pt jumped out. Gosh he was beautiful. Well my brother and I detected as best we could under the conditions. A bullet casing, rusty stuff, a square nail were among our finds and then just a few feet from where we parked the truck I found the silver quarter. So that made my day. We left drove into town to walmart and when we were ready to leave, my front tire was flat on the passenger side and my rear passenger side was deflating. Both were sidewall punctures so no fixing them, had to buy 2 new tires. I have no idea what caused it, must of been a little stump or something we ran over. Needless to say hubby was not happy with my off roading adventure. But he has little room to talk because last year he had several of these flats himself. I will take a pic of the quarter and post it later.

well I forgot to mention last week I had to have the front driver tire repaired after picking up a nail metal detecting somewhere else. But I got a silver dime that day. I wonder what would happen if I found a silver bar... ;D

Sounds like you need to metal detect the property before you park you vehicle. LOL, sorry bout
your bad luck, but does seem you do find some neat items when you get flat tires.

Looking on the bright side, you could have been skunked and still gotten the flats.
Now that quarter has a story behind it. ;D

yep I do got a story at least and it was a good day just being out and seeing the deer would of been worth it, had it not been for the flats. I felt bad for my brother who works nights he met me at 9am when he got off work to hunt a couple hours and then he would go home and sleep before going back to work. Well needless to say it was after 7pm when we finally made it home.

Sounds like some lowlife may have been messing around with a screwdriver. These are the people who make you wish everyone should stay in school and learn something.

At least you didn't hit the deer with the car....I did last week....$9,000.00 damages.......Trade you bills >:(

Been there done that twice actually, not as much damage as you though just a couple good dents, and I got a meal out of mine.

I kept teasing my brother that the buck we scared up came back and slashed the tires

You should not take the Cadillac in the woods try the Jeep. ;D

Wheres the picture of the $400 quarter? :icon_scratch:

Sounds like a cool day but, to bad about the tires.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Don't say that, against the law in TX...... I know ;D

I know too, thats why you call them and report it also for insurance reasons. The law around my dads will ask you do you eat deer meat? If so take it, if not then they send someone out to pick it up and it ends up feeding the inmates at the county jail.

Your county is different from mine... my wife hit one on the way to work one evening and they told me I couldn't have it, after an hour argument they finally issued a permit... about a year later I hit a 11 point that did $2300.00 in damage, guess who didn't get called ;D

My money says it wasn't the insurance company

Yeah I grew up in a real hick county. In fact a friend of mine hit a cow on the way to prom in high school. It went threw the windshield and almost killed them. The cow was still kicking around when the police and the rancher showed up. The rancher not wanting to claim the cow because he would be accountable for damages to the truck said it wasn't his. All this debate went on with the poor cow still kicking around on the hood of the truck. Finally my friend couldn't stand it anymore pulled the gun from the gun rack in his truck, and shot the cow infront of the rancher and cop. The cop helped drag the cow off the hood and wouldn't you know it had the ranchers brand on it. The rancher had to dispose of the cow, and pay for damages to the vehicle and the cop gave my friend and his date a ride into town to the prom. Gotta love small Texas towns.
