Got 9 boxes today, and NOT A SINGLE SKUNK!!! ;D

I don't usually post, but thought, "Hey! This RARELY happens so it is worth a post to send a tribute to CardsNCoins!"

The breakdown (And all from one bank):

Box 1:
8 40%s
2 64s

Box 2:
4 40%s

Box 3:
2 Bens
2 64s

Box 4:
2 40%s

Box 5:
12 40%s
1 64

Box 6:
7 40%s

Box 7:
1 Ben
1 64
3 40%s

Box 8:
3 Bens
6 40%s

Just as Bigheed, I have been steadily cranking through about 25k a week in halves.
However! I start school again in a week and a half so I will be taking a break again till Summer (Or spring break! =D) So, enjoy one less monster hunter Bigheed =)

Hell, with how much tuition has increased for us students, it is definitely in my best interest to get as much time out of my school's education as possible!

And, as Rileyboy has always said, "It is still out there!! "

HSH everyone! (and as always, R.I.P Rich Hartford)

I got 2 skunk boxes & 300 in loose/rolls of very skunky skunks this week. Can't win them all I suppose?!

Nice score!

It would depend on the area.. you must be in a good area. I tried the volume thing in my area and I'm basically volunteering my time since the finds will only be enough to pay for gas.

I was at a dump bank today and I asked if they had any halves. They had 10 rolls of machine wrapped Brinks style rolls that they said a customer turned in. They appeared to be unopened. I actually turned it down. I asked for loose ones and got $5 worth of clad and left. That is how much confidence I have in the boxes round these parts. Had my scale with me and could've asked to weigh the rolls in terms of which ones to take but Nah,, too much work. They'd probably start laughing. :laughing7:

Got another box of skunk dimes today. Crazy. Since Beginning of December, I've looked at 12 boxes of dimes and got only 2 Roosevelts & a 1964 Canadian dime. Where have they gone? Is someone around here going crazy with the dimes too?

nice finds!! hope the vein doesnt stop. :blob7: :blob7:

I hope the vein isn't yet tapped! I actually got 9 more boxes tomorrow at the same bank! =D

SFbay, Trust me I know how you feel. Just as Bigheed knows how you feel. You need to do volume to really achieve anything here. Before I would do like 10 boxes a week, and the finds would be dismal. I have actually "Retired" a few times as well simply because the finds were few and far between making it not worth the trouble.

This little vein I hit will probably end with another 50+ skunks with a few boxes containing a 40% in between. You just gotta stick with the rough times to get the good ones.

Maybe Bigheed could throw something in as well =)

P.S. (To bigheed) How bout that "SM" character? xD

That's good insight. Everytime, I try to increase volume, the finds seem to go downhill. I have my theory on this. The order banks usually will first ship out coins that they have on hand. Meaning they ship out coins that come in and get past the tellers and CRHers who look for CWR's. When someone does volume, it may outstrip the current supply they have on hand meaning they have to order from the FED reserve. That's why we get new coins like 2001's sometimes. However with the influx of CRHers, the dumps will go somewhere. When the dump bank's vault goes beyond their storage limit, they send the coins back to the FED. The process repeats itself. I believe that's what is going on in my area and that's why volume doesn't seem to do well here. I used to think that I had my system down and that I didn't usually get my own dumps back but now I am. Probably a lot of CRHing going on by a lot of people.

I have seen that SM mark before when I did 2 boxes year while visiting SD. I did see one of those up here too but not too often.

I've seen SM marks alot, he/she is obviously not to bright or marked coins when silver was really low per ounce because I have found 40% silver with SM on it......

I try to keep my volume high and consistent, because that is the only thing you can control in CRHing is the effort that you put into it.

The finds are inconsistent in the short run and you might have some "long run average" but it is always deviating from the mean. The important this are you deviating up or down from the mean.

For me personally my goal is to average 2 per box minimum 3-4 is great, beyond that is just off the hook. If you can consistently run 50 boxes per week with 3-4 keepers per box, do the math its a great take.

All I can say is, be consistent and if there truly is no silver left in your area as some people experience, my recommendation would be to buy a ryedale. The real opportunity is in copper if you do the math, I just find doing halves to be alot more fun and I have no supplier of loose pennies, If I did, I might not do halves at all.

Silver used to be dirt cheap. That SM guy is either not smart about coins or did it long ago too. I remember when I started CRHing, 40%ers were $0.55 per coin and 90%ers were 4xFace. I recall as a starving college student, I've sold a few rolls of 40%ers for $13.50 to $14.00 per $10 face. Some guy even wanted me to let him know what dates I had and bought the 40% roll with the lower mintage year. LOL

I do have a Ryedale but its wheel needs to be replaced. Didn't know that it's such a high maintenence machine. The finds have dropped off these last four months. I do not average 2 keepers per box. This month I'm getting 0.53 per box. LOL. I keep track on excel of what I find and the drop off has been big in the last 6 months. Just seems to get worse and worse. A couple boxes where there was three or more really saved me. I averaged what you get last year and into the beginning of this year but the sudden drop is huge. In many ways, I searched close to double what I did over a year ago and my finds were not doubled. I did not do that many boxes last year. I just wonder what is going on with the drop. Is it some large CRHer or just lots of new CRHers. Funny I went to a bank today and even the teller was telling me that other collectors that go there tell her that east coast is where it's at for silver. Wonder if those guys are all lurkers here and read all about CnC & DB's fake numbers. LOL

Laken, great boxes! 9 consecutive boxes with silver is cause for celebration. It is always fun to have a "flow" of finds through a group of boxes.

As for the East Coast, here is my small-timer's (4 boxes per week) perspective:

Two silvers per box is about average, with about 90% to 95% of the silver being 40%.
2/3rds of all boxes are skunks.
The longest skunk streak I have had in about 7 months of doing this is 8 boxes IIRC.
WL's are very scarce here.
I have found a few Bens, but not many.

Very nice boxes, indeed. Hope the silver keeps rolling out!
