Well folks its been along time, I pop in and read what everyone has found and get excited and go out and dig. I'm the new guy on the block so I have waited, but now is the time.
Actually I found this in April along with 3 other buckles in one spot yea you heard me right, one spot, approximately 200 hundred yard radius. It appears to have been a watering site only because of the depression the spring has left behind and the water is still flowing and a trickle I might ad. The kicker is this I have detected since 1975 starting with a Whites TR and progressed to the Whites Discriminator/Coinmaster, Now I'm telling my age! Whew, The equipment that found this beauty was my old Fisher CZ6A what a gem she is but we all have our opinons as I read on this site! Heh heh! Just kidding.
I have found in addition to this location are many buttons and I mean many.
To date below:
2-bayonet tips (end of the scabbard)
3-State of Virginia Buttons
7-Infantry Buttons
1- small cuff button State of Conn.
1- really unusual Artillery Button State of New York ( solid copper or bronze, Eagle on top of a cannon underneath three cannon balls)
1-liberty seated Half Dime 1853
1-1856 Large Cent
* numerous colonial buttons
1- unusual Large button ( The size of a 50 cent piece, Quail sitting on a pile of stones)
1-sword guide ( the piece that is at the throat of the scabbard)
Anyway enjoy and good luck to all may the summer hold treasures for everyone on this wonderful site.
Gotta go, cooking shiskabob for the misses before she gets home my day off.
Rebel man yesterday, cook today.
Talk at ya soon.
