My best guess is that it is an old sun dial or part of a clock. The Roman Numerals 1-12 kind of give it away.

The iron thing is a part from the lock mechanism on a musket gun? I have several and have always assumed this. So I too, await an I.D. It's not your typical mainspring. I gotta start looking through the books as it is now bothering me as to what it is. I'll report back. :icon_scratch:

Thanks Muddy,I found a Pepperbox pistol barrel at that site along with an 8 Reale.I hope your assumption is correct!

Mojjax, thank you as well. That clock part was found at a site that ranged from 1850-1880's,so that makes sense!

What kind of knife blades are those? Do you mean a wood plane iron(blade)? Do you have the link? They look like pics of wood molding.

I never seen old wood plane iron blades that look like that and I have collected and sold a ton of them. I guess you mean some kind of modern electric planer that I am not familiar with. Thats what Im here for, to learn.:icon_thumright: It sure looks like wood moulding designs.

wooden hand planes for cutting decorative moldings. some needed 2 people one pulling a rope the other running then basically riding on the plain and the wood being worked.
