cut work short to get out and swing today. went back to my prime permission where i found the 1817 large cent. brought the Lg28 coil with me for more depth this time. welp 3 holes in, bouts 15yards from the forst largie i get a beautiful 50-51 steady from everywhere, out plops this detailed beaut 1822 large cent. also found 1942 s silver quarter on the surface along side a wheatie. ill have more pics once i get home. how do you get more dirt off the coin without damage or shall i leave her the way she sits? i leave most the way they sit but shes got some good detail on the front

Very nice! Clean at risk but if you'd like to try something, I'd recommend Andre's pencils or olive oil soak. Careful though, they are easy to damage, make worse or even wipe completely all detail away.

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

What I do with my coins is use a wooden toothpick, you can rub the coin lighty around the details. This will usually help the details pop a little more without any damage.

In my experience, this shows details better than a olive oil soak.

Nice largies. Congrats

thank you all my fellow treasure hunters!! ya shes being left the way she is. just keep on swinging, this legend really is a monster

I would soak it in acetone, remove any left over dirt with a soft bristled toothbrush, and then coat it with CoinCare or similar to prevent further corrosion.
