I don't want to give the impression that it was only gold and silver that I found

while I was away....there were many days of nic, nada, nil, zip, zilch

One day, a rusty "merc" saved an otherwise dull hunt.

Anyone ever find a square coin? This one ( second photo) is quite ornate.

Thanks for looking again

Lorraine

Hi Lorrain, great to see your finds again, HH.

Great finds Lorraine, I love the odd stuff that you find.Still a tough go here in Central Jersey at the ocean beaches.I am going to hit a river beach today, There have been some signs of some sand movement.I have found some silver on a couple of hunts. No gold for me on this beach since the 90's but a buddy dug a nice class old ring in 2010 so I am hoping to find a keeper. Will be taken video's so I hope to capture something to show.

Thank you, Dale,

Yes I electrolyzed it; ( the rust came off easily...easier than old tarnished ones,) and then washed it gently in warm water.

I had never found a rusty silver coin before , and was very surprised to see this one in the scoop along with a lot of rusty bits in the wet sand.

Congrats on the silver my new friend Lorraine! You have some neat stuff...The gold and silver will come along. HH
