Any ideas what his little gadget is?I dug it at an area that seen Chinese activity in the 1850's-1870's.It appears to be brass,is threaded on one end and is hollow.I have no idea?

Is it broken, or slotted like that?

It is slotted,not broken. ???

Looks a bit like the spout from a powder measure. The slot would regulate the quantity of powder. ??

It looks like the slot had something soldered/braised in it.
No idea what it could be :-[

Could it be half of old Binoculars, i have a pair around here that is similar. The spot that looked braised could be where it connected to other half.

Thanks for the ideas,I dont see why it would have had the slot if it was a nozzle and it definitely is not a torch tip,I dont think they had those in the 1850's.I am leaning toward shot flask top or powder flask top. :icon_scratch:

This looks like an old brass water nozzel to me. I have found a few but not quite like this. Does the end have a smaller hole than the back? Is so I would think that's what it would be.

It is flared on the one end but what would it be doing in an 1850 mining camp, and why would it have a slot?
