Pulled two items up yesterday and Im at a loss for ideas, first one is brass and the second appears to be silver.

I have seen these identified as a plethora of things, ranging from furniture hardware, to poster bed bolt covers, to bridle rosettes, etc.
My own personal belief is that they are fancy bit bosses of similar application to those seen on Civil War era horse bits that say US, etc. on them.
Of course, I could be wrong, but that's my best wag.

Could be, we have gotten a few other items from the area that date from around 1780-1830.

For whatever it's worth to hear, Creskol, I agree that the brass object is a horsebit "boss" -- from the latter 1700s to early-1800s.

I've dug a couple of them... notably, one was right next to the curb of a downtown street in front of a house in "Colonial Fredericksburg" Virginia.

From you, Sir, it's worth a lot! Thanks for the confirmation. I will always value your knowledge and expertise, and your willingness to share. Thanks Pete!
