I dont get this whole "macro" thing...

I don't get this whole "macro" thing...

At the risk of sounding dim I have to admit that I can't find any macro setting on my camera. Is this something only high end digital cameras have or what? Of course I can't find the instruction book from when I bought it a little over a year ago and I've got a Nikon Coolpix LS... but no macro that I can find....

Ya ya I thought about that right after I posted and ended up finding a tech support phone number. After calling and only going through 1 automated menu some helpful dude answered right away. 10 seconds later I found the feature on my camera. lol
