I used a cheap speaker magnet the grey you see is the inside of the stone I filed a corner to get under the red ant that was the result as for the magnet it had attraction around the whole thing I broke a piece of the red crust that also stuck to the magnet I’ll have a post of the crater tomorrow I also found this near by with the same magnetic results that stones weight is 32lbs
The rock shown in post #6 appears to be basalt, and has no visible characteristics of meteorites.
Time for more coffee.
Thinking about it for a few minutes, and I believe Alan could also be correct. While most lava bombs I have found are a red lava, my neighbor has a few that are gray and one that is black. So it is, based on images, a basaltic lava bomb.
Thank you I saw a clip on YouTube where they said that stones from mars have a grayish basalt under the red similar to terrestrial basalts is that true?
And the breaks were done by me the large stone In 6 i took a sledgehammer and a forming pin to it the smaller stone I dropped a few times then pulled it apart both were found at the same beach in the water I’ll post the pic of what looks to be a small impact crater tomorrow sometime
