I never found much of anything with them where I lived at the time (SoCA) there was not a lot of places I could go to. Only three lakes and they were all man made. I stopped when my magnet got caught on something and would not come loose no matter the angle or how much I pulled. This is a real man made all concrete lined. I once saw it drained and it looked like a big chinese wok.
I live in NoCA now and drove down to the Southbay to visit family so I stopped by Harbor Freight and bought the same magnet and cord I lost before. During the last two days I drove back to where i live and every bridge I drove over I would check it out for possible spots to throw a magnet from. Twenty miles south of me is a nice bridge (older looking) the also has a foot path on the eastern side. I think that may be my first trip. I couldn't see how high up we were so I better get a 100 foot cord too. (only have a 50)
