UPDATED: ALL NEW PICS.
I promised myself all winter that I would do a hunt the first day that presented itself as one where weather wasn't going to play into the plan. (Today qualified all the way up to just before dusk.) What I'd planned was to go to a local favorite spot where the clad is plentiful and reseeds itself pretty regular. Can almost always count on a lot of clad. It worked!
I even got a few small surprises but I am too pooped to clean up, count up, separate, pic and post. Still, I wanted to share the feeling. I told the AT-Pro, papa needs new batteries sooooo go get 'em!!! MAN!!! Did it ever! Anyhoo, here's a pic of the whole dirty pile.
I promise, I'll clean and take better pics, tomorrow.
The coins are all modern, there is a ring and I actually lucked into what looks like a rather old button.
OK, here's the rest of the story:
This ring was a small miracle. It's just a cheapo but the way I found it wasn't. I'd run out of ideas of where to try hunting and said, "Ok, Lord. I give up! Take me where I need to go." And LITERALLY as soon as I finished saying that, bing! This ring.
Think you know what this silver thing is? I do.
Of course, I am playing a little dirty.
This a little more recognizable? (The paddle still works!!)
How about dem apples?
Nice old fire engine. It also says "Pumper" underneath. Not sure how old though.
And lastly, the button:
This is as clean as I figured I'm gonna get this.
I couldn't capture it in the pics but in person and under magnification, I could make out a few words on the backmark.
"SCOVILL" "DOUBLE GILT" on the outer ring and "MINT" on the inner ring.
There's a tiny bit of gilt left on the back and the front appears to be plain. Pretty thick button too.
Hope that helps the button experts.
Once again,
Thanks for peeking.
HH!
