Does anybody out there know what kind of bayonet this scabbard tip went to?
Somebody told me the other day that it may be a rare Confederate scabbard tip, but I have no idea.
It does look different from the standard scabbard tips I've found.
I found this one in the Vicksburg area.
Thanks for any assistance.

Don't know a thing about civil war swords, but some searching showed Confederate scabbard tips look a lot like yours, in style. Good luck.

You may have something really special there.

IF... it is... a Confederate Tredegar.

Oh my! That would be incredible. I hope I can get a positive I’d on it. Thanks!

This is just first glance opinion... and perhaps I should have refrained until I did a search or 2 on this... SO...
Don't get hopes up... for I am not sure... there are some folks here on Tnet that may recognize this exact piece being something else.

This chape's ball is something that resembles the Tredegar ferrule... and not a traditionally found chape.

Although yours is tapered more.

Definitely unusual.

As to what EXACTLY it is... lets see what some CW buffs pipe in with first...

IF you get no definitive I.D... I will do some research on it if this comes back around.
