If it's cut and polished you'll need to take it to a gemologist for a positive ID.

1st: Allow me to suggest that your images be retaken as to "Shed Light" on the subject..
2nd: According to what I can see.. you've cut/polished a garnet.

Continue to post "dark" images as your main image for identification.. and you may continue to to get irrelevant comments or redirects. In other words.. "I'm stabbing in the dark hoping to hit something"

Sorry SW, but in normal lighting this piece would look like a deep-red blob. I'm shedding light on it to display the patterns.

I just started cutting. I started out with Agate and Quartz pieces. It's actually pretty simple. I'm working on some local contacts for gem and cab cutting. I see you're in Virginia, so when I find a few good cutters; I can send you to them.
