Drop a neat little true story I was fortunate to be a part of. When I turned 12 my Grampa turned me on to coin collecting as he had some pre 33 gold coins along with many other silver and just old wheats. I always loved the gold coins and was hooked on finding gold. I have probably found 2 grams in my 17 years out seriously panning never cared as it was getting to the creek. I got older gave it up then got back into it 6 years ago then health issues kept me out of the stream.
A few months ago my 12 year old step son comes to me and asks what I'm doing with that sluice I have stashed away. I tell him this story of how I started as coin collector turned amateur gold panner in a state with no natural placer gold trying but failing. Well it didn't matter I hooked him into getting me back into it. Hoping with new technology we can capture what others left behind. Regardless I already found my treasure in the gold in his eyes.
