I cheated):

A 1924 WHAT wheatie?

A 1924 D would be a steal at 13 bucks.

No it was just 1924. It was mostly a blind deal. I had no idea what the dates were, but they also threw in an uncirculated 1990 D which i dont think is worth very much. Im thinking of saving thecoins for a couple decades and then see how much theyre worth.

Honestly, unless the conditions were really good, I think that you lost money on that deal, but I hope I'm wrong.

Sorry guys but i cheated i bought a 1902 indian head, a 1943 steel, and a 1924 wheaty all in good shape. All for 12.99 idk but it seemed like a good deal to me

Pictures?

There is no shame in buying coins. That's how I got started in collecting. I do think that ANY buying unseen is a bad practice though. I you can't see the date, mint and condition, don't buy it.

Condition is everything, if they are truly in good condition you are looking at about $2.00 worth. Hopefully they are better with a little more value.

If the Indian is a XF-AU, the steel is UNC, and the 1924 is XF-AU you did ok.. Always shop around first.

Without knowing the condition, I can't say for sure, but I don't think it was worth what you paid (good shape is relative to the eye of the beholder). HOWEVER, who cares? It's just $13 and now you have 3 new super cool coins. Awesome! No shame in buying them. To be honest you probably would have never found those coins in circ. Well, maybe the wheatie, but it would have likely been in bad condition.

Nothing wrong with buying a coin. Myself personally, I love getting a great deal, but if it's a coin I really want, I'm prepared to pay pretty much whatever, unless I'm being blatantly ripped off. I've bought most of my cooler pieces. And you know what? Those coins that are cool, but aren't worth much, really you have to pay enough so that the coin is even worth the trouble of selling for the vendor. Especially on Ebay. I wouldn't bother selling a coin for 20 cents, would you?

I always thought those mystery auctions, though pricey, were an okay way to get started on a collection. When you're new, you don't have a clue what to go after; it's a starting point. Not something I'd likely go after now, unless there was something listed in the auction that I REALLY wanted.
