This came from a multiple foundation area.I know. One foundation was there in 1875 there's three others I'm guessing run in the early to mid 1900s. Maybe a device to lock the ropes/lines in place on a blind or curtain?

I don't see anyplace to feed cords through.good idea but I don't think that's it .way better than anything I thought of.

I'm thinking an early electrical clip of some sort....
Dec 6 pat date, that's a start... have to plug in every year to search, might take all day, but worth a shot

Seems like there would have to be some kind of insulator.Its all metal unless it was like a junction. I'll keep looking thanks for the help.

Like Mackaydon says, we need the complete patent date, especially the year. The beginning is probably PATD

It's just what springs to mind, I've seen lots of different old time latches and your piece is utilitarian in design, you say you found 3 others ?

Sorry I didn't actually Figure it out .just started having a bad day and gave up.I know it was rude and I apologize I continue to try and figure it out.
