I been buying on ebay.....is this right?

Get you a red book so you know the value the new 2009 is already out.

You can get some coins on ebay for good prices others are overpriced. Most of the coin lots they sell are rip offs, they ususally are cast off coins, dateless, or other and they throw one or two silver dollars in there to make it look good.

Hehe i know.....i just never seen a half dime....are they really half the size of a dime.....roughly....

I already bought it

As a side comment, if the EBay price plus shipping and insurance are greater than the 2009 Redbook value, then the investment is questionable economically...

If the combined purchase costs are at a break-even, the appreciation value over the years will eventually make your purchase worthwhile.

Remember, you are at the mercy of the seller as to the description...

Although, I purchased and received an antique collectable, I immediately asked for and received a total rebate due to a fraudulent description...That is the plus side of dealing thru PayPal and my Visa credit card.

I've bought quite alot on ebay....and just started selling a little.....wish i had the cash to setup my own business... Anyway

Everything so far seems on the up and up. Sometimes things take awhile to ship.....still waiting on 2 from almost a month ago.....but also just recieved 2 from almost a month ago.

As for the actual value of the coins.....im not too worried. Its not too much about value appreciation....and much as just having the item to me.

Seated 1/2 dime is about half the size of a normal dime?

I'm completely new but i really wanted to pick up some nice coins.

A half dime is quite a bit smaller than a dime.

They're slightly smaller in diameter, but a whole lot thinner.

A half-dime is half the weight of a dime. 1.24 g vs 2.49 g (1853 - 1873). Silver coins back then contained an amount of silver that approximated their face value (unlike modern clad coins).

The half-dime was slightly smaller in diameter than the dime (15.5 mm vs 17.9 mm) and proportionally thinner.

If you think the half-dime is small check out the 3 Cent Silver (0.75 g & 14 mm) and the Type I $1 Gold 1849 - 1854 (1.672 g & 13 mm).
