It's def. masonic...but I don't know if it's a suspender clip. What's the size?

Whats the other side look like? It's certainly a Mason item...

Maybe a Masonic belt clip that served as a ceremonial sword hanger.

its a very old masonic sword hanger for the "guards" sword---at the meeting there is a "guard" (sort of like at sgt at arms) who's offical "duty" is to keep outsiders out of the meeting and "watch" for evesdroppers---its an "offical" title --- the part you have was attached to a belt ----the sword holderhad a slot in it and was hung on the outer part that sticks out---the belt & holder were together as one item--the sword and sword holder were not permantly "attached" but seperate items---quite a rare item you have there & quite old I'd say---my dad was past master of his lodge--- the actual sword was a rather light weight type item more for symbolic purpose than actual use--Ivan

I originally said sword hanger too...

but seeing the back of the piece shows the belt attachment - which indicates the hook would be sideways (for a sword hanger) and it looks more like a Hook & Loop type belt buckle...

I dunno.

Ah, yes. the very old and quite rare "Masonic Suspender Sword Hanger".

I might have seen one of these in a Laurel and Hardy movie once.

PS. Nice find, Outraged.
