The XP Deus is a great machine!! I have been hunting with an ETrac for 3.5 years and thought I wasn't leaving much, if anything behind, but the XP Deus really impressed me.
My ETrac has been wonderful to me, but there is a new kid in town. I bought an XP Deus two days ago and I immediately went to a place I had hunted hard with my ETrac to give it a good comparison test on how it hunted. This how my test in a difficult spot transpired. I turned the Deus on in the Basic 1 mode set to 8 khz with sensitivity at 95.
I went out to a small church yard (40 x 80, the church founded 1895, burned 1928 and burned again 2009 and is about to be rebuilt) from which I had found 3 silver dimes (2 mercs, one rosy), 3 buffalo nickels, many wheat pennies, and the Deus impressed me with what it could see. I had hunted this small area at least 4 times with my ETrac prior to this visit because the ground was difficult and I wanted to make sure I left nothing behind (this yard had also had 5 silver dimes and a silver quarter pulled out by a neighbor with a DFX).
Well, I found nine wheat pennies (1919, 1936/37/38, the rest 40s and 50s) a 1953 Quarter, a 1943 Mercury, butterfly costume jewelry pin, and a brass whatzit. I also believe I left two silver coins behind because I could see them, but couldn't pinpoint them (I later found out that the Deus has separate settings for hunting and pinpointing sensitivity and I will go back for these two coins).
So, it looks like I will be spending time learning a new machine and rehunting some areas. I never thought I would find a machine that would compete with my ETrac, but I think I have. My ETrac has already found me 87 silver coins this year, and with it and the Deus it looks like I might even make that mystical 100 silver mark for the year.
Happy Hunting!!
