I am stumped, Help with ID

I found this with other objects, also found in area are colonial find and civil war finds. But it looks like and feels like lead. I took a picture of all four sides and it is round and has ends. looks like lead stock but the ends are making me think something else. Does have an indention on each end, so i dont know if maybe a lead spool for thread or something. What do you guys think?

That was something i was thinking, maybe used to fill a hole in barrel or something. The head and tail are mushroomed out to the size of penny, inner dia a little smaller.
