Hello to who ever reads this, I am new to all of this but found this website. I seems to be the most active. I am looking at getting sarted at "treasure hunting" I live in Ontario Canada near the New york Buffalo boarder. I am a scuba diver and travel south in the winter. I am looking for good books to read on the subject or website. I doubt there much treasure up here. Just a few wreaks in the great lakes.

Thank for you time.

Jeff

I live in northern ohio and I aint complaining. I just had my best year ever diving and metal detecting, the ones that spend the time looking are the ones that find treasure. there are tons of lost treasure stories and books at your local library.

try robert marx buried and sunken treasure or shipwrecks of the americas
most libraries have their books listed online

happy hunting

Hello, Jello!

The best book on finding sunken treasure is John S. Potter, Jr.'s The Treasure Diver's Guide (New York: 1960; 1972). There is a relatively inexpensive paperback reprint that isn't very hard to find.

Bob Marx's books have already been mentioned and many of them are first-rate - Shipwrecks of the Americas and Sunken Treasure are two I would recommend.

These books are out-of-date when it comes to the law - be very careful that it's legal to dive and recover before you bring anything up!

If you are interested in treasures on land, get a copy of Karl von Mueller's Treasure Hunter's Manual #6 and #7. These are the best of the best.

Become a history student. Get a copy of the Federal Writers' Project (1930's Works Progress Administration) guidebook for any state you are interested in. Read it and study it.

Good luck - and have fun!

if your in florida waters might I say singers book on florida shipwrecks is very worthwhile, as is marx's book (* already named above) by old bookaroo (note if your only want florida wrecks ) --there's a book by marx thats called "shipwrecks in florida waters" basically its just the florida section of the larger book named above. potter's is an oldie but a goodie as well -- I have potters, both of marx ,singers and other much older and rarer book as well (none are for sale ;D )
