I am new here looking for pay to dig sites in North Carolina please help

If you could kindly point me to a thread that lists pay to dig sites in North Carolina or somewhere in the East of the country that would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking to take my family to some type of mineral mine for our January Vacation this year and would like some suggestions.


I don't want to sift predug dirt but dig myself,

I wanted to do a geode dig but it seems I am a bid to far from one of those and being January the cold might forbid that I am not sure.

It just depends where you are located but here are a few sites you can look up...Not many places allow it anymore due to people making messes and such....Mines That Allow Actual Digging:

Rose Creek Mine, Franklin
Mason Ruby & Sapphire Mine, Franklin (cash only, no credit cards or checks accepted; and not to be confused with Mason Mountain Mine)
Gem Mountain Gemstone Mine, Spruce Pine (for the actual mine site: weather permitting & reservations required.)
