That is one cool looking knife ! Do you think that it might once have had leather wrapped around the handle area ?

That is very cool design! I've got a couple old 2 man saw blades that might be turned into a few of those soon- with a leather wrapped handles!!!

I was thinking about that,no hole to attach wooden grips
there must be a leather wrapped around

That's one of the coolest knives I have seen. What great shape it's in too, congrats on the find and welcome back.
Was this a forest or field find?

Thank you guys.I never ever seen in my hunting career Celtic knife like that one, well preserved and in one peace.Usually Celts broke or bent weapons before they lay it in the ground with the owner.
It was in the field

a farmed field? A soccer field? Or are you referring to a more generic definition of "in the field" as an archeologist might use the term?

What do you believe is the approximate age of this artifact?

farmer plowed field, near stream...very flat field with a small ridge at one place.
Hard to say, they lived approximate from 1200 B.C. - early years of I-II century AD when the assimilate with Romans

What is interesting about Celtic knifes and swords is extreme firmness. The material of Celtic swords is still mystery. Some historians think that Celts put a meteorite stones during the forging.
First i thought that knife is iron made, but then when i wash it i spot bronze color, and some strange shades....simply amazing

I thought it look odd for iron that old!

Great lines. The maker was a true artist. Really neat find!

Gotta repeat what others have said........coolest knife i've seen:) Congrats i would love to dig one if those

TY
knife is so thick,so i could remove a layer of rust and make a 'brand new' shiny knife.....in theory
Of course i would be crazy to do that :)

It's hard for me to wrap my head around finding something like that. Amazing and beautiful knife!

Sweet find man!

Any pics of what it would have looked like in its day?
