Sub Sea Research is pulling it's 102' vessel M/V Diamond off operations to head up a flotilla of vessels heading to the gulf. As you are all aware, hurricane Katrina has devastated that area.
Most of the aid and resources have been targeted for the bigger cities. The small fishing towns of Mississippi and Louisiana have not gotten any aid as yet, and it may be months until they do. The roads into these places are gone. The only way to bring in aid is by helicopter or ship. These people make their livings on the sea, and it's gone. The shrimp boats are either sunk or have been blown inland.

We are heading up a flotilla of over 30 vessels that will carry desperately needed food, ice, and survival goods to some of these towns. We are planning a departure this week! Our ship is in Key West and we will join the flotilla in Naples, Florida.

We need your help! We are donating our resources and people, as well as others in this fleet. Some supplies are also being donated. What we need is a cash contribution for supplies and fuel. This is a desperate plea, people are starving and we can do something about it! Over 30 vessels can carry tons of food and supplies. But, we must act fast! Will you help!

We are in the process of setting up an account just for this purpose. All donations will be used strictly for this relief effort. We need to help! The account will be open on Tuesday as soon as the banks open. We are contacting the local news stations so they can inform the public also.

Please return an email, and as soon as possible, we'll give you the info on the account.

Thank you for your support,
The Sub Sea Research Team

Greg, we have been flying our HC-130?s into the aria a couple times a day delivering supplies and fuel, mostly in support of our nine HH-60 Blackhawk?s that are operating out of Jackson Mississippi. (Oh! By the way, we were in there on Tuesday evening flying FEMA brass to survey the damage, and started rescue efforts that same night). Our operations have been going 24/7 since then. The news does not even come close to portraying the extent and vastness of the devastation. There are lots of little towns and people out in the boonies that still have not seen any help since the hurricane went through a week ago.
My hat is off to you guys, think long term survival for these folks. They will need drinking water, and more drinking water, Food supplies, Generators, Fuel, Lanterns, Tarps and canvass for shelters, Insect repellant, Flashlights and batteries, Gloves, Goggles for eye protection, Chainsaws, Axes, First aid kits, the list goes on and on.
Just imagine you are going on a long camping trip, what would you bring?

Keep up the efforts.

Thanks for the info. We really are working hard to make this happen. Still alot to get together to do it, but got some good people helping. Hoping the Coast Guard won't try to turn us back. If all goes well, we'll be heading out by the weekend. Any suggestions on the hardest hit and most needy places? A dam mess. Thanks for everything.
Greg
