Hunting in cold water with nox 800

I've had it in 40-degree water for over an hour with no problem. After an hour in my drysuit, I think I was colder than the machine.:occasion14:

When your toes turn black, it's time to get out of the water.

Don't try it in water lower than 32F, gets a lot harder to swing. Seriously, the operating temp range of the Equinox from the manual states: -10°C to +50°C (+14°F to +122°F) - It don't care what is surrounding it (air, water, or ice) just keep it in that range and it should run fine.

It did ok at 35-37 degrees for 4 hours the last time out, I read the specs but was concerned about plastic components. I find very difficult to quit for the year. I have had a great year using the nox and the deus. Thanks to all.

I would be more concerned about the seals not becoming so stiff that they resulted in gaps, but it seems you pretty much tested those ok with your 4 hour run.

3 hours at 41 degree salt water temp with no problem. I have not had a chance to break ice the the fresh water lakes yet, too much fun at the big beaches. I try not to go out when the air temp is below 35. It was not that way back 36 years ago. I remember one day when I had to stop detecting because my controls were completely covered with ice (fresh water). Another day in salt water is was like walking through a Slushie from the 7-11 store. It was very difficult to swing a 15" coil let along find a diamond in a scoop filled with ice cubes.

Pretty impressive operating range for the machine (+14* to +122*), much more than my machine's current operator has anymore.
