Hi,

I guess I know what this item is but would love to know more about it. Was found in an eastern Massachusetts field. The design resemble some have seen on powder flasks.
Specifically I'd like to know :
1) Was the pin going on a hat? a bag? a belt?
2) What era/years is it from? Can the musket/riffle, clothes or hat help narrow it down?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Patrick

Patrick That is a cool item How did you find it ? Where you metal detecting or did you just find it on the surface . Either way it just shows how things end up in the most unusual places . I once found a little brown weeble wobble in the middle of a several hundred acre forest, a plastic snake in a large hay field and an orange and white marble in the gizzard of a Ring neck pheasant CC Hunter has some info about it Once again someone from TNET can share some insight into the things we find
