That is a nice one Jeff, first Treasure lead I think for that county.
 

I did not have this article, but it does fit the stories of the gold mines of the Nez Perce tribe. Of course it might not be one of them, there were 3 rumored within 100 yards of each other. After the whites settled in the area they conducted a search for these lost gold mines. The search involved Idaho and Montana, when they were not found in one region, the search spread to other areas. Ravalli County is on the western border of Montana with Idaho.
