After some research, the satellite photos looked promising, like the site was untouched for forever. When I got there, people illegally dumping was everywhere. I had to walk over two mounds of trash to get to the site. once in the site, more trash. Vacuum cleaners, computer monitors, you name it right in the front yard of 3 very old buildings. There was a forth one, but it had long fallen down under it's own weight. I did a quick walk around the site (not detecting) to see if I might be stumbling in on a bums home or something. Nothing like that, but now, in the back yard, more trash, Everywhere. I looked inside one building and I see some brand new shovels, a pic-axe, two pair of gloves and a gallon of water sitting near a wall and was about 3/4 full. Someone had already been there and was digging, but where. This alone was an investigation. I continue to tour around the houses, peaking in the windows of each one. One was a barn, two were houses, one built later as a replacement for the first house that was in terrible shape. These houses both had only two rooms each. A living room and a kitchen? Later, I find where the owners of the shovels were digging. Right in the middle of a small clearing in the far end of the back yard. They had already dug down about 4 feet. I did some detecting around the hole and the dirt they removed. Nothing. Was this the outhouse? Sure enough, under a tree, in some brush nearby, was the remains of the wooden outhouse. They apparently did not dismantle it, because it looked already dismantled. Probably for a few years now.
Now, my yard detecting beggings, this was a good place to start, from the outhouse toward the houses. Man, every single swing of the coil, about 3 or 4 iron hits. I would occasionally get a higher pitch sound of valuable metal, but it was just qwerks of hitting the iron at different angles. There was two very old trees, one having a rotten tire sitting perfectly under the largest limb. A tire swing? No rope / rope marks were evident. Nothing under these trees but iron as well. Dang. I see an empty beer bottle from Budweiser nestled in the dirt for what probably looks like a few years. Dang. I headed toward the front of the house where the 'road' would have been. I look down, and I noticed 12" tile flooring was already decomposing from being dumped there from years ago. It was useless, the whole place was trash infested. Probably in the entire time there (3 hours?) all I get is iron, iron, iron. 1 time, I got a good hit, but it was a old style pull tab in excellent shape ironically. I finally just got sick of the whole thing and left. walked back over the pile of old cloths, plastic plants, broken kids playscape... got back into my truck and left. Nothing!!! I've decided I'll probably head out there again, but I will need a coil for trashy areas... probably the 5.3. Anyone have one they want to sell me? Or recommend on for this amount of trash infested sites? On a side note, I should have taken my camera along because the photos alone, of the house, the shovels, the torn down outhouse would be worth a few stories by itself..And no, I didn't take their gear. But it did cause me to remember something my uncle told me once about bums peeing into fast food cups to 'mark there territory'... But no, I didn't do that either. I did, however, want to write a small note saying "Go to treasurenet.com " and that they need to hide their gear better.

EDIT: I've been thinking about this "outhouse". The hole was pretty much all hard dirt. No stinky smells or anything. It was however, right next to a small creek about 10 feet away, however I did not see any 'flow' lines into the creek. Also, there were two wooden blocks on either side of the hole that the mystery diggers placed there. I need to take some photos of the place.

Yessir, I guess all of us have, or will, "been there-done that"! Several years ago for me, the first time, in GA. Supposed to be a Union & Confederate campground...at different times...with trenches & the whole works. Wrong! Looked more like a small town dump.

I didn't go back!
