Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

The day after Labor Day is when they open the Metro beaches to metal detecting and a big crowd shows up at the various sites. I quit after five hours and dragged my detector behind me back to the car I was so tired. I came away with two 10 Kt. rings, two silver rings, three cheap earrings and about $6.00 in clad. Oh yea, one merc. dime that was near the waters edge. We used to take in more than this, but with all the hunters out on this day and the lack of swimmers hitting the water, pickings are slim. However the weather was perfect and I am going back out tomorrow to a different beach. Maybe someone missed something by not over lapping. But first I need a nap.............

Take care,
Sandman

Doesn't sound bad to me! How long of a beach is that and how many other machines are we talking? Maybe low on the clad if nobody hit it all year, but sounds better than I average on jewelry for five hours. What would be a good day for you? What do you consider good for five hours in the places you go on average? Just wondering how I am doing compared to a more experienced person like yourself.

Any day you get gold is good in my opinion! Keep it up bud! :)

Re: Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

Sand,

2 gold rings, 2 silver rings, I'd say that
is a good day. Perhaps not as good as
the past but 4 rings is a nice day.

have a good un............

Re: Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

You guys are right. Yes, four rings is good and there were many days that I didn't get any when I started. Heck, I still have those days. I was just tired when I posted, sorry..... :-[

Sandman,

The day after appears to have been the real labor day :o

Congrats on those finds! As with others, I'd take those finds any day! :o

Sandman,
I'm assuming your on the eastside? Have you ever heard of Kensington Park, can you hunt there? It's west of Detroit. We used to go there as in the 70's and 80's. Now that I've taken up this hobby I keep thinking back to areas I went to as a kid.
I've been in Florida 20 years now. Can you hunt on Belle Isle? What about Boblo Island?

Good Luck and HH

TWO GOLD - SILVER ..............MAN OH MAN WHAT A NICE DAY

WHEN DOES IT GET SHUT BACK DOWN IN MEMORIAL DAY?

Re: Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

Is that the beach at the end of Metro Parkway??? If so, I learned to fish at the end of South River Road.

I love that part of the Metro Area.

Re: Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

that would be a hell of a good day around here! congratulations !!

Re: Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

Baddog, Kensington is also only open after Labor Day to Memorial Day to detecting. Kensington has two beaches, Stoney Creek also two, and the Metro Beach is off Metro Parkway and there is one beach about 1/4 mile long.

I went back today and found one small i4 Kt. gold earring and I was very happy to get that. I had to keep putting the coil over the scoop to check if the detector was still on as I was using the CZ20 since the Excal was charging. After I got to the beach I remembered I had a spare battery pak for the Excal. I once showed up to detect and forgot the detector.

Re: Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

Forgot your detector, LOL, Sandman that beats my going to the beach and forgetting my scoops. (I did turn around to get them but cost me an extra hour 20 mins to get to the beach)

Nice finds there!

Re: Hunted Michigan's Metro Beach this morning

I know that feeling, after 4 or 6 hours of detecting , all you want to do is hit that bed... :P
