I got up extra early because I really, REALLY wanted to get in some detecting time before I had to work this weekend. I stopped in at one park I wanted to try but found just some newer coins and a Hotwheels toy car thing. Switched to another park that had some history and picked out a nice spot - found a 1945 wheat cent right away. The signals kept coming and I unearthed an old harmonica - there are some letters on the outside of one panel but it's in really sad shape. The inside is all wood and very thin metal on the outer panels. Next I dug up an interesting baseball mitt pin - it has a couple folded tabs on the back of it and reminds me of a cub scout neckerchief slide with the say they are folded inward. Maybe it's a keychain fob? I'll do some checking on the harmonica and baseball mitt and see what I can find out..

I really like the saying at the bottom at the bottom of your posts! some very cool finds!

Usually the harmonica pieces found are just the reed. Rare to see one with more intact. good hunt.
