These make McAdoo crystals look like peanuts!
But my guess somewhre in N.E. PA hard Coal Region by the Coal Chips all over

Those are some pretty quartz crystals. They however, are not rare. Finding that number in a PA coal area is unusual but not unheard of. The main coal mining areas are in Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Schuylkill and Northumberland counties. Did you notice the native Sulphur on the walls? The noted occurrence on Bald Eagle Mountain west of there was due to a hydrothermal deposit. The silicon dioxide making up the quartz was also brought up by solution and had time to cool slowly into crystals. I'd say ALL the abandoned mines in that area are not actually open to collecting. Plus its a good way to not come back home one day. They are very dangerous and can harbor nasty creatures like venomous snakes.

I'm not seeing any "rare" specimens but it's a good haul. Everywhere I lived in NEPA I've found quartz of this size and larger.
