A lot of people love vintage and antique sheet music and frame them to hang on the wall as decor.

As a purist, the idea of destroying these simply to make bad art is a total waste. At one time, these used to go for major bucks on ebay. The market is softer now, but there's still money in them. You'll need to research some of the titles, and compare. Nice lot!

ETA: Of course, you also have musicians that will want to play these scores.

I'm with you on this one. They are VERY nice pieces and some appear to be signed. In a few instances, I see more than one version of a given program, which could add to the value.

The one that gave me the biggest laugh was a theme song to the Beverly Hill Billies. God how I loved that show.

Do you research any of this stuff yourself? ???

I have not had any time to reasearch these items to date...between work...children....and planning a wedding, I feel like I barely have time to eat. I will just hold on to these items until I can confirm their value a little better than I have to date. Once I am armed with the best knowledge I will try to sell in lots of 10-20 for $9.99 or so. If they sell, it would make me a few bucks for the wedding in June.

My fiance laughs at the ammount of stuff I bring home on a weekend. Now, if I could only clone myself, I would be set.

OMG, I was humming this tune yesterday (I kid you not) and trying to recall all of the words, lol. I tell you, if the music sheets have great graphics and/or famous composers, you could do very well!

I think I need to take a day off of work to research some of this stuff. I picked up 24 hallmark ornaments this weekend too....he was asking 3 for $1 for them looked one up on eBay and it recently sold for $43 + S&H. Im leaving for Detroit this weekend so I put my fiance on it..."go back over there and buy every last one of those ornaments". Guy said he bought out a store and has a stirage locker with many more if the same. I also bought two of the state quarter sets off of him from 2000 and 2001 for $2 each...these are the S mint coins and the coins alone are worth $1.25!!!

I would be interested in any that have a military theme or stars from the 1950's and before send a pm

Mantle - I am going on a business trip to Detroit on Saturday. I prob wont get a chance to take a look for you until some time next weekend. Are there particular stars that you like? I did see an older one with Bob Hope.

Duffy - are you referring to the guy from the flea market? If so, I can have my fiance ask if he makes it over this weekend. If not, I'm heading over there first thing next Sunday morning. I dont recall any, but he did mention "a storage unit full of stuff"! He had a bunch of Hotwheels cars. They were also 3 for $1.

bob hope is exactly what I am looking for

Here goes for the military and famous/popular artists and actors/actresses....

Let me know if there is any interest in a particular item and I will give a few extra close ups of that piece.

Most of these range from the late 1920's to the early to mid 1950's, with most in the 1930's time period.

Here's a idea .. You have made a very nice score and I guess some would call it a collection . That being said I know little about the value of vintage sheet music but as a collection could you get it appraised by someone in your area ? Now this is my idea ... it's not much but I though maybe you could look in donating your music collection to a music school or University . Then you could take the appraised value off on next years taxes as a donation ... like I said , it's not much but I thought I toss it in your mix to consider . It might be easier than posting every thing singley on Ebay and you never know how any auction for this music will go. Sometimes things sell for BIG bucks on Ebay auctions and sometimes they don't . It all depends on who's wanting what and when .. risky.
Good Luck , Woodstock

That is a pretty good idea. It looks like most of the music is for piano and ukulele (of all things)...most being for the ukulele. EBay mostly frustrates me of late. Mostly bc the bad buyers are ruining it for everyone.

Thanks for the idea.

I pass on sheet music all the time. After looking at some of the completed listings on ebay, I'm gonna have to take a look at it from now on. :icon_thumright:
